More than nine years ago, we had Suburban replace all the windows in our home with replacement windows, insulated with low e Argon gas. The installation work was high quality, and after nine years it remains high quality. While we expected (and have observed) the great improvement in thermal insulation (good heat retention in the winter, and lower air conditioning costs in the summer), we were immediatly surprised by the sound insulation the windows provided. Living along Middle Road, there is a lot of traffic, and the sound level we now have is very much less than before – we barely hear cars and trucks going by, and often have to look outside to learn that it is raining, or to know that the wind has picked up.
Recently, we noticed what appeared to be moisture collecting near the bottom of one pair of windows in our upstairs bathroom. We found that this was neither on the inside nor the outside, but appeared to be between the panes of glass. We called Suburban to describe the condition, and were told that this meant that the seal for the inert gas was apparently no longer secure and that the windows should be replaced. They asked for the window measurement information, said “We'll take care of it.” and ordered replacement windows. As soon as they arrived, we recieved a call, set up an appointment date and time, 10 minutes ahead of time, a technician arrived, removed the glass units from both upper and lower and replaced them with the new glass units. This service cost nothing, after 9 years. We recieved a followup letter from the management team, checking to be sure the problem had been solved and asking us to call, immediatly, if anything further needed to be done.
We often learn that “parts are no longer avaible for that model ”, or that doesn't work either cannot be repaired or repair costs are excessive. How nice to deal with a company that does what it says, when it says, and whose guarantee is good. It is only appropriate that such service be commended.
