Behind the Scenes

“It’s Never Just Another Interview”

Featuring Darin Wilson

3–4 minute read

Some things should feel routine by now—but for Darin, they never quite do.

Darin clipped the mic on and glanced over at the camera with a half-smile.

“I think this is about my tenth time with Channel 6,” he said. “You’d think it would get old—but honestly, it’s always a blast.”

There’s a familiarity to it now. The same kind of setup, the same pre-show rhythm, the same quiet moments before everything goes live. The kind of environment where it would be easy to slip into autopilot.

But that’s not how he approaches it.

“Every time’s a little different,” he said. “Different story, different focus—but it’s always a chance to talk about what we’ve built.”

Standing under the lights, waiting for the cue, the moment didn’t feel like just another interview. It carried weight—not because of the cameras, but because of what it represented.

“This one meant a little more,” he admitted. “Forty-plus years… that’s not something you just breeze past.”

When the camera went live, the ease was there. You could see it. But so was something else—something more grounded.

Pride.

“I enjoy it,” he said. “Not because it’s TV—but because it gives us a chance to share who we really are.”

That’s the part that hasn’t changed over ten appearances. Not the lights, not the camera—but the reason for showing up.

“It’s never just another interview,” Darin said. “It’s another opportunity to tell our story the right way.”

The Takeaway

Experience might make things familiar—but it doesn’t have to make them routine.

When the focus stays on the story, even the tenth time still matters.
