Get a Free Estimate- Gutter Cap vs. Shur Flo: What’s the Difference?
Gutter Cap and Shur Flo both help keep leaves and debris out of gutters, but they use very different technologies. Gutter Cap uses surface tension, guiding rainwater around a curved aluminum surface and into the gutter while debris sheds away. Shur Flo uses stainless-steel micro-mesh filtration, allowing water through the mesh while blocking leaves, pine needles, seeds, shingle granules, and other debris. Suburban Construction installs both systems throughout the Quad Cities and can help homeowners decide which approach best fits their roof, trees, and existing gutters.
- When Should Gutters Be Repaired vs. Replaced?
Not every gutter problem means you need a full replacement. Loose hangers, a small leak, a damaged downspout, or a short section that has shifted may be repairable. Replacement makes more sense when gutters are repeatedly leaking, badly sagging, pulling away from the fascia, undersized for the roof, or failing in multiple areas. For Quad Cities homeowners, Suburban Construction can evaluate whether repair or replacement is the better long-term value.
- 5-Inch vs. 6-Inch Gutters: Which Size Does My House Need?
Most homes use either 5-inch or 6-inch K-style gutters, but the right size depends on more than the size of the house. Roof area, roof pitch, valleys, downspout placement, and heavy Midwest rainfall all affect how much water reaches each gutter run. Suburban Construction offers both 5-inch and 6-inch seamless gutters and recommends 6-inch systems for homes with steep roofs, large roof areas, or heavier water flow.
