Learn how replacement windows and doors improve comfort, reduce drafts, and increase energy efficiency for Quad Cities homeowners.

When Mary Baetke bought her Bettendorf home in 2006, she had only to wait until winter to discover how bad her windows were. She researched her options and had Suburban Construction install new energy-efficient windows.
A: As I went through last winter I continually noticed how drafty my house was. Some of the windows were broken: they wouldn’t open right or close as they were supposed to. My kitchen was very drafty because the windows were not airtight.
A: I talked to several companies, some were even cheaper than what I bought, but really liked what Bob Clancy (of Suburban Construction) told me about how they work with clients. Their terms were good; one company I talked to wanted me to pay everything up front — that just didn’t sound right. I stopped in Suburban’s showroom one day and liked what I saw.
A: Not really. I chose the double hung ones with the screens built in.
A: It was really fast. They showed up one day, took out all my old windows, hauled them away and installed the new ones the same day. They look great.
A: Oh yes. And the best part is my MidAmerican (Energy) bills have gone down a lot.
A: Yes; up next is fixing my crawl space and adding insulation in the attic.
A: Yes. We sell a middle-priced window that carries a lifetime warranty. We have several styles, colors and sizes. We have different glass options as well as frames and trim choices.
A: We make an appointment in the home with the owner to identify their problem areas. We complete an assessment and find affordable solutions for them.
A: Depending on the time of year, four-six weeks from the time we meet with them until they’re installed.
A: Yes. Mary noticed her drafts, but many people don’t realize how much energy is being wasted by older doors or windows. Winters like this remind us that you can’t take things for granted, you need to be sure your windows and doors are working as they should.
