JR Girskis Receives Silver Beaver Award at 2023 Illowa Gala

Suburban Construction was proud to serve as a sponsor of the 2023 Illowa Scouting Gala, an evening dedicated to recognizing leadership, service, and community impact throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois.

During the event, Brian “JR” Girskis of Suburban Construction was honored with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award — one of the highest recognition's a local Scouting council can present to a volunteer for distinguished service to youth.

The Silver Beaver Award recognizes individuals who have made an exceptional impact through leadership, volunteerism, mentorship, and dedication to the values of Scouting. Recipients are selected because of their significant contributions to youth development and their commitment to strengthening their communities.

For many throughout the Quad Cities, JR Girskis has become well known not only through Suburban Construction’s decades of service in the home improvement industry, but also through his continued involvement in community organizations, youth leadership programs, and Scouting initiatives.

JR has long believed in the importance of investing in future generations and helping young people develop the confidence, responsibility, leadership, and work ethic needed for success later in life.

“Scouting teaches young people lessons that stay with them forever,” Girskis said during the evening. “Leadership, responsibility, teamwork, service to others — those values matter both in business and in life. I’m honored and humbled to receive this award.”

The 2023 Illowa Scouting Gala brought together community leaders, volunteers, educators, businesses, and supporters from across the region to celebrate the positive impact Scouting continues to have on local youth and families.

As a sponsor of the event, Suburban Construction was honored to help support programs that provide opportunities for leadership development, outdoor education, mentorship, and character-building experiences throughout the Quad Cities area.
